Bound by Duty (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles #2) by Cora Reilly

                                                                  Description:
Dante – The Boss – Cavallaro’s wife died four years ago. On the verge of becoming the youngest head in the history of the Chicago mafia, Dante needs a new wife and Valentina was chosen for the role.
Valentina lost her husband, too, but her first marriage had always been for show. When she was eighteen, she agreed to marry Antonio in order to hide the truth: that he was gay and in love with an outsider. Even after his death, she kept his secret, not only to preserve the honor of a dead man, but also to protect herself. But now that she’s about to marry Dante, her castle of lies threatens to crash. Dante is only thirty-six but already feared and respected in the Familia, and he’s notorious for always getting what he wants. Valentina is terrified of the wedding night that might reveal her secret, but her worries prove unfounded when Dante shows her the cold shoulder. Soon her fear is replaced by confusion and indignation. Valentina is tired of being ignored. She’s determined to get Dante’s attention and desire, even if she can’t get his heart that still belongs to his dead wife.

                                                         My opinion:
Valentina lost her husband at a young age, she didn't have any children so her father decided that she had to get married again. Her new husband would be Dante – The Boss – Cavallaro. He was going to be the new Boss of the Chicago outfit and she was going to be the most influential woman in Chicago. Valentina thought that her second marriage would be with a man that desired her not someone who still loved his dead wife and was cold to her. Despite that she was happy because she would eventually get rid of her v-card and feel pleasure. Unfortunately, she wasn't that lucky, Dante didn't consummate their marriage and ignored her most of the time which hurt her a lot. She tried many times to get his attention and when she finally succeeded she saw that he wanted her but he was holding back.  She never gave up and her wish came true, she had sex with him and she enjoyed it a lot. She was happy with that and her new job. Even after months, their marriage wasn't as she had once hoped, he treated her like a whore at night and an employee in the day. He never stopped hurting her emotionally. The almost loss of one of his most precious people worked as a wake-up call to Dante and he started acting like a real husband. In the end, Valentina was one of the happiest women in the mob world.

Very interesting book. The mob scenes are very limited. There are love faith and a lot of hurtful moments. What i loved was that in this story it shows that even women in this world are smart and capable of doing something more than sitting at home. Of course in this situation, Valentina's character was also a hero and not just because she saved her husband as Aria did on the first book. Dante was a cold man, a killer who mourned his ex-wife's death.  He was a lot like Luca. Valentina was a very stubborn and smart woman who knew when to argue and when to submit.

Even though Dante's rejection towards his wife had dragged out a lot it was a very entertaining book.
