Navy SEAL KC thought his four-week leave would be peaceful—just him, his uncle’s beach house, and some much-needed R&R. Instead, he walks into his temporary sanctuary to find a beautiful, desperate woman who clearly has nowhere else to go.
Moriah has been running for her life, bouncing from town to town, always one step ahead of the people searching for her. When KC finds her, she spins a story about fleeing an abusive ex-boyfriend—anything to keep him from digging deeper into the truth she’s desperate to hide.
As the two become reluctant housemates, KC offers to help Moriah learn how to defend herself. But when her past finally catches up with her, will KC be able to accept the truth behind her lies? And will Moriah be able to trust him with her life?
To stay means risking everything.
My opinion:
ARC Review
Seaside Strangers by Sheridan Cole is the first book in the Whisper Softly series, blending romance and suspense into an engaging coastal small-town story.
Moriah Jensen is constantly on the run, hiding from dangerous people who are determined to find her. Her latest refuge is the quiet town of Whisper, North Carolina, where she rents a beach house from Dan Malone. Hoping for peace and anonymity, Moriah instead finds herself unexpectedly sharing the house with Navy Lieutenant KC Malone, Dan’s nephew, who regularly stays there when he is in town.
With nowhere else to go, the two become reluctant roommates. Moriah tries to keep her distance because of the secrets she carries, but the chemistry between them quickly becomes impossible to ignore. As danger closes in, she must decide whether she can trust KC enough to let him help her.
This was an enjoyable read with a wonderful small-town atmosphere and an intriguing storyline. The suspense kept the story moving, while the romance developed naturally between the characters. Moriah’s past was heartbreaking, and the tension surrounding the people chasing her added excitement to the plot.
KC was incredibly caring and patient, the kind of hero who makes you feel safe just by being there. I especially loved the moment when Moriah showed him what she had learned from him. Their connection felt genuine and sweet. Dan Malone completely stole the show for me, though. He was the perfect matchmaker and added warmth and humor to the story.
If you enjoy romance novels with a touch of suspense, protective heroes, and cozy beach-town vibes, Seaside Strangers is definitely worth picking up. 🌊📚
