The United Television Network exiles disgraced investigative reporter Sunny Knight to a remote California desert affiliate. Sunny is informed by the station owner that, since nothing happens in the middle of nowhere, the station does not need an investigative reporter, and she is now the weather reporter. After they have a vicious altercation, the station owner's bridge partner is discovered dead, and Sunny's boss is arrested for the murder. Despite the differences Sunny has with her boss, she is convinced that the station owner didn't do it. The wise-cracking, irreverent amateur sleuth jumps into action to nail the real killer. But with a clown car full of viable suspects to investigate, will Sunny bring the right one to justice or become their next victim?

The Forecast is Murder by Susie Black is the first book in the Sunny Knight Mystery series.
Sunny Knight was the chief investigative reporter for a Newark affiliate of the United Television Network. When she discovered something involving an important company, her boss sent her to Cactus City, where she was going to work as a weather reporter. The job wasn't exactly what she wanted, but she accepted it.
A few days later, she was given the opportunity to use her investigative reporting skills once again. Her boss was wrongfully accused of murder, and Sunny was determined to find the real killer. Together with her colleagues, they created a list of suspects, and she started interviewing them one by one. Unfortunately, the real killer wasn't happy with her investigation and started creating serious problems for her. Would Sunny be able to reveal the killer before she ended up dead too?
A well-structured murder mystery with plenty of suspects, motives, and danger. The story started with the introduction of Sunny, the changes happening in her life, and the secondary characters who would help her along the way. Soon after, we got the murder, and the storyline became more suspenseful and intriguing.
I liked the feeling of urgency surrounding the murder investigation and how the writing remained consistent without becoming sloppy as the story progressed. My favorite parts were when Jed found her and the scenes where she worked with Ambrose. I enjoyed seeing how well they worked together.
If you like murder mysteries with plenty of suspects, danger, and an investigative reporter determined to uncover the truth, then this new series is definitely worth checking out.
