Description:
Have you ever lied? Held secrets? Betrayed someone?
I have.
McKenzie and I were best friends, soul sisters. We shared everything…or so she thought. To everyone I was perfect and happy. No one knew the real me. That was until I saw him. Everything changed the second we laid eyes on each other. The world stopped moving and only we existed in it. But it just added to the secrets and lies, it became too much and I couldn't tell apart what was real and what wasn’t.
This story is for anyone, who has ever lied and lived to regret it…
My opinion:
Gia was an only child like her best friend Mack. They did everything together since they were little kids. Mack like their parents, had high standards, going to college, find a good job and marry her prince charming, while Gia was a free spirit, wanted to travel and see the world. Gia from a young age was keeping secrets and lied to everyone. Mack was better than her in every class,Gia envied her for that, until the day she found out something that she was better at, cheerleading. She was so excited about it. At the age of fifteen she found the only perosn who could make her feel special, her boyfriend Jake. Her senior year in high school everything changed, she was smitten with the new teacher, Mr Nichols. She was happy with him for seven months, he was the only person who saw who she really was. Then everything changed for the worst, he went to jail and she was a shell of her former self. She was miserable, drinking and partying, having sex with strangers. When she heard that Mr Nichols was going to get out of prison she started everything that happened back then. He found her and kidnapped her. For the first time in her life Gia was terrified. She ruined his life and he wanted her to feel the pain he felt all those years. Then all the secrets and lies were revealed and they all forgave each other and tried to move forward with their lives.
I don't think i have ever read a most complicated book than this one. It goes from present to past all the time. From one point after it's just scary and kind of disturbing. It has an interesting storyline for a dark novel. I would prefer it if it went from the begining to the end or if it had only a couple of flashbacks. The way it's written right now is too confusing and it was hard for me to keep up with it. I liked the end and i didn't expect it to be like that. The whole story is about love ,lies and secrets that ruined everyones lives. There were a few moments of happiness that didn't last long. Gianna was a broken girl and then a shattered adult. Jame's only crime was that he loved his student and he paid for it with his life.
My favorite lines:
1)“You’re feisty. Anyone ever tell you what you should do with that mouth?”
2)“G isn’t a name, it’s a letter,” he teased.
“Really? Wow. I hadn’t noticed…maybe you could take me back to your place and show me other letters, like O for orgasm, and C for climax. I’m actually quite fond of B for bad girl.”
