Ember (Eagle Elite #5) by Rachel Van Dyken

                                                               Description:
I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo's sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.

She's a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can't escape the fear her seductive looks instill--knowing it's only a matter of time before I fail--again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it's not pretty...I died, and now I'm alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life--I can't resist taking.

                                                                My opinion:
Phoenix was now the head of the Nicolasi family, so he had to learn how to be a boss. Also, he had to fight his attraction to Bee, Tex's sister. Bee had always been alone, her only friend was Phoenix and he refused to let her be close to him. It hurt her so much but she wasn't giving up. So he kept pushing her away and she kept trying to get any reaction she could from him (fun times). Then they were forced to go to school together, for Bee's protection. They knew something was going on at the school but they didn't figure it out soon. Someone wanted to be the next boss for the Nicolasi and he was going to use Phoenix's weakness to succeed it. Bee's stubbornness and innocent love saved him from those idiots and the monster inside him. For the first time in his life, Phoenix had a reason to live.

And we are back to the loving fun mafia style stories, where the girl pushes the male's buttons until he gives in. There are a lot of fun interactions, a few sad ones, a great deal of kissing and groping but not so much killing. We finally see Phoenix face his demons, stepping up as a boss and following in Luca's steps. It was really heartbreaking to see his "family" doubt him all the time and having him prove himself over and over, but it was so sweet to see him fall in love and be accepted by Bee. She is the most adorable yet stubborn innocent female character. Lonely and abused by her father until Phoenix saved her. Also, she was the less tortured girl in the mafia family. This story is like the Dark Knight and the Damsel in distress. I enjoyed it a lot, it's by far my most favourite book of this series.
