Review: Risky Play (Red Card #1) by Rachel Van Dyken

                                                                Description:
What else can a virgin do when she’s ditched at the altar? Seattle heiress Mackenzie Dupont is treating herself to a single-girl honeymoon in Mexico and a desire to relinquish her innocence to a gorgeous one-night stand. Fake names. True pleasure. But when she wakes up alone, Mackenzie realizes just how much anger is left in her broken heart.

Suffering a tragic personal loss, pro soccer player Slade Rodriguez has his reasons for vanishing without a goodbye. Right or wrong, he’s blaming the beautiful and infuriating stranger he never wants to see again. They’re both in for a shock when Mackenzie shows up as his new personal assistant. And they both have a lot to learn about each other. Because they share more than they could possibly know, including a common enemy who’s playing his own games. And he’s not afraid to get dirty.

Now there’s only one way Mackenzie and Slade can win: to trust in each other and to stop hiding from the lies they’ve told, the secrets they’ve kept, the mistakes they’ve made, and the attraction that still burns between them.

                                                                       My opinion:
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Seattle heiress Mackenzie Allistar DuPont was ditched at the altar. Six months later she decided to use the honeymoon trip to Puerto Vallarta so she could take a break from everything. Slade wanted to get away from his old soccer team so he accepted another offer in Seattle, but before that, he went on a vacation. He met Mackenzie on the plane under false names and they spent some time together before tragedy drove Slade back home. A month later Mackenzie went to work at Blue Service Assistant company. She ended up being his assistant. They were both surprised but since he was still hurting over his dad he treated her poorly. Eventually, he saw his mistakes and offered to start over as friends. Soon he managed to get his act together and went after what he truly wanted. For the first time in her life, Mack felt what true love was by a man who would fight for her honor.

Risky Play is a contemporary sport second chance romance. It's a light story with a few emotional parts. At times it gets quite hot and steamy as well. All the main characters are troubled by something that happened to their past and reflect their everyday life. The male characters are your typical alpha males. Mack on the other side appears as the prim and proper girl but has a sassy side as well. My favorite parts were the fighting scenes between the male characters, so hot and funny. I liked it a lot and I will rate it with 4 stars.
