Review: Ice Ice Maybe by Leighton Grace

Three things I know about Ryder

1. He's my brother's best friend (off-limits)
2. He's leaving after Christmas (temporary)
3. He's the only man I've ever loved (problem)

When Connor asks Ryder to stay with us for the holidays, I convince myself I'm over my childhood crush. I'm not fifteen anymore. I can handle being around him without falling apart.

Turns out, I was very, very wrong.

His tattoos on display when he forgets about the shared bathroom. The way he plays with my niece like he's meant to be part of this family. How he looks at me like I'm the only person in the room.

When the tension finally breaks, we agree to keep it secret. Just until he leaves. Just between us.

But I've spent my whole life waiting to be chosen. Playing it safe. Settling for crumbs of affection.

Not anymore.

This Christmas, I'm fighting for what I want. Even if it costs me everything.

My opinion:
Ice Ice Maybe by Leighton Grace is a charming small-town holiday romance set in snowy Vermont.

Ryder Blackwood, a famous hockey player recovering from a shoulder injury, returns to Pine Hollow to lay low for three weeks. Coming back to town brings a rush of memories, including one person he never truly forgot: Lucy Wright. She’s his best friend’s little sister, which has always made her completely off-limits. Lucy, however, has been in love with Ryder since she was fifteen, and seeing him again only makes those long-buried feelings stronger.

The attraction between them is undeniable, but it comes with risks. Once they finally give in to their chemistry, they’re forced to confront the hardest question of all: can they make it work despite the distance, or is this only temporary?

This is a wonderful, cozy holiday romance filled with heart and chemistry. The tropes include hockey, small town life, friends-to-lovers, forced proximity, and best friend’s little sister. I was hooked from the very first page. The story is entertaining, romantic, and delightfully tender. I especially loved the forbidden aspect and their secret rendezvous. Both characters feel real and relatable, and I adored Ryder stepping in to help Lucy, just as much as I loved seeing Lucy try to protect him in her own way.

If you enjoy spicy small-town romances with emotional warmth and swoony moments, this one is definitely worth picking up. ✨
