Description:
She’s the woman of his dreams. He’s the monster from her nightmares.
When Daniella rescues elderly Peggy from a mugger on a Boston street, she expects nothing in return. But then she meets Peggy's son, Lucas—devastatingly handsome and utterly captivating. Unlike her distant husband Grant, Lucas sees her. Wants her.
Daniella can’t resist and they spend one reckless night together which she immediately regrets.
Too late, because Lucas doesn't just want Daniella. He needs her. And he's willing to destroy everything—and everyone—standing in his way.
Lucas plays the long game, worming his way into Daniella's life—befriending Grant, charming her twin daughters, inveigling his way into her family. Every time she turns around, he seems to be there.
As the depths of his obsession become clear, Daniella realizes she’s in a fight for her life. Because the family she tried to help is hiding something dark. Something deadly.
And she's already in too deep to escape.

My opinion:
ARC Review: Don’t Answer the Phone by Miranda Rijks
Daniella is a middle-aged, married woman with twin daughters who are about to leave home. Facing growing intimacy issues in her marriage, she longs to feel wanted again. One day, she saves an elderly woman from being mugged, an act that sparks an unexpected connection. Grateful and warm, the woman invites Daniella into her life, and soon Daniella becomes a regular presence in her home.
Enter Lucas, the woman’s son. He develops an intense attraction to Daniella, and at first, she feels it too. After years of emotional distance, the attention is intoxicating. One mistake leads to an affair, and that single decision sets everything in motion. Lucas begins inserting himself into every corner of her life, befriending her family and refusing to let go. As his obsession grows darker, Daniella must find a way out before it’s too late.
This is one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read recently. From the very first chapters, the story grips you and never loosens its hold. Miranda Rijks’ writing excels at conveying raw emotion and creating vivid, unsettling scenes. While the plot unfolds gradually, the tension steadily builds, keeping you hooked.
Even though I was able to guess who was behind everything fairly early on, I never felt bored. The pacing, atmosphere, and character dynamics kept me fully engaged. The final revelations, however, completely caught me off guard and added a powerful punch to the ending.
If psychological thrillers are your thing, this is one book you definitely don’t want to miss 📚🖤
