ARC Review
Have You Seen Him by Kimberly Lee is a mystery thriller that pulls you into a quiet life that suddenly fractures.
The story follows David Byrdsong, a lawyer who feels mostly content and slightly bored with his routine existence. Everything changes when he discovers that, as a child, he was once declared missing. Shocked by this revelation, David and his girlfriend Gayle decide to investigate, unknowingly placing themselves in serious danger.
As they dig deeper, strange “accidents” begin to happen, and it becomes clear that multiple people are watching them. Some seem to want to help, others clearly do not. Trust becomes a luxury they can’t afford, and the question lingers throughout the story: will they uncover the truth before it’s too late?
The novel delivers steady suspense with touches of action that keep you alert. The mystery surrounding why David is being targeted unfolds gradually and comes together toward the end. The constant sense of danger is what truly drives the tension.
Of the two main characters, Gayle stood out the most. She is fearless, sharp, and brings an engaging energy to the story. David, by contrast, felt a bit dull for much of the book, though the emotional weight of his past and the truth behind his disappearance were handled well and added depth to his character.
Overall, this is an intriguing thriller with emotional moments and a mystery that rewards patience. If you enjoy suspenseful stories with hidden pasts and escalating danger, this one is worth picking up.
