ARC Review
Some Love Lasts by Tim Hunniecutt is a heartfelt young adult romance that lingers long after the final page.
Madi and her little sister, Roe, spend the summer visiting their grandparents in Florida. That’s when Madi notices the boy next door, Matthew, a charming swimmer who works as a lifeguard. What begins as a summer friendship quickly turns into something deeper. Their connection feels instant, natural, and beautifully innocent.
But just as their love begins to bloom, a devastating hurricane changes everything. By the end of the summer, they know they will be separated for years. They promise to wait for each other and stay in touch. Life, however, has its own plans. Four years later, communication has faded, and they unexpectedly reunite in college. The question remains: can first love survive time, distance, and growth, or have they become different people?
I initially expected a light and fun young adult romance, but this story offered so much more. It explores a kind of enduring love that withstands time, tragedy, and life’s unexpected turns. The kind of love that feels timeless, reminiscent of older generations who believed in waiting and fighting for each other.
The novel balances sweet, tender moments with emotionally intense and tragic events. It touches on sensitive life topics while highlighting resilience, courage, and personal growth. My favorite aspects were the heroic actions woven into the story and watching Madi’s emotional growth over the years.
If you enjoy meaningful young adult romances with depth and heart, I highly recommend this one.
