Review: The Eight Pranks of April by Effy Bloom

 Description:
1 cheating ex.
24 hours.
8 men who volunteered for a prank and got emotionally unionized.

On April 1st, April Feuller carries a twelve-dollar cupcake three blocks with the fragile optimism of a woman hoping for a surprise proposal. Instead, she finds Chad stress-testing his executive desk with Brenda from HR. His defense? It was a prank.

April doesn't scream. She doesn't sob in the bathroom like a victim in a corporate training video titled Managing Big Feelings in Small Spaces. (She does cry in a supply closet for five minutes, because she's not made of stone. She's made of spreadsheets and spite.) She tells her best friend she has a plan. She does not have a plan.

Eight men opt in like it's a group project, not a preassembled harem, just people who took "hands-on help" extremely literally. Together they build April's very specific vision of Tuesday-level revenge: fake fiancé, autocorrect from hell, expense report gauntlet, taco coupon with probable mob ties. She thought it ended at sunrise. The men were not informed.

My opinion:

The Eight Pranks of April by Effy Bloom is part of the Hot Mess Why Choose Holidays series.

April Feuller catches her boyfriend cheating on her on their anniversary, and after taking five minutes to calm down, she decides revenge is the only way forward. With the help of eight men, she starts plotting the perfect payback. Some of these men had been attracted to her for years, while others she meets along the way during her revenge mission. By the end of it all, she not only gets over her cheating ex, but ends up with eight men who practically worship the ground she walks on.

I’ve read a few RH romance stories before, but nothing quite like this one. It’s a rom-com packed with revenge and plenty of hot scenes. At times it felt like a roller coaster of bad decisions, but somehow everything worked out in the end. It’s an engaging story, and for me, the revenge aspect was what kept me turning the pages because I really wanted to see how everything would play out. The steamy scenes were great, but my favorite moments were definitely the conversations with her bestie.

If you enjoy why choose romance with humor, drama, and revenge, this is one you might want to check out.
