Review: The Twelve Days of You by Ellie K. Wilde

BLAIR BALINSKY’s life is in shambles. With her business just weeks from shutting down and a blindsiding break-up mere days before Christmas, a humiliated Blair has no intention of facing her high-achieving family over the holidays… Until she gets the news she’s been waiting ages to hear: Her long-time crush and town golden-boy, Mason, is headed home after years away. And he’s finally single.

Convinced it’ll set her life back on track, Blair decides to race home and win him over before anyone else gets the chance to. But this close to Christmas, her only choice is to catch a ride with West, Mason’s reclusive, brooding older brother.

WEST MCALLEN has spent years rebuilding his life far from home—and from Blair, after his old feelings for her led to a mistake that got him exiled from town as a teen. But when Blair suddenly appears and begs him for a drive home, he’s unable to deny her. And when their road trip turns into a festive, chaotic hitch-hike across the country, West realizes he might finally have a chance with Blair—and at redemption—while out from under Mason’s shadow.

All he has to do is win her heart before she reaches his brother.

My opinion:
ARC Review: The Twelve Days of You by Ellie K. Wilde

Blair Balinsky's life was nowhere near what she had imagined when she moved to Chicago. She was dumped by her boyfriend a few days before Christmas, and her sandwich shop was close to shutting down. She was a mess. Then she got the news that her high school crush was coming back to their hometown and was single. She took it as a sign that maybe it was finally her time to shine.

She hitched a ride with his brother, Weston McAllen, who used to be her best friend. They hadn't talked in years, even though their shops were really close to each other. There was plenty of animosity between them, but also some hidden feelings. This trip from hell was about to put both of them to the test.

This was such a fun holiday romantic comedy! It's told from a dual POV, with strong-headed characters and unresolved issues that lead to some emotional moments. The tropes include friend's older brother, grumpy/sunshine, small-town romance, road trip, and close proximity.

The plot has a gradual development, with plenty of entertaining scenes that made it so much fun to read without getting boring. The characters were great, too. Blair was so sweet despite everything she was going through. West was grumpy most of the time, but he showed his sweet side a few times. My favorite part was when they visited his friend Sam.

If you love holiday romance with spice, fun banter, and a little bit of emotional drama, then this one is for you! 🎄❤️
