Dirty Angels (Dirty Angels #1) by Karina Halle

                                                                 Description:
For Luisa Chavez, a twenty-three year old former beauty queen, a better life has always been just out of her reach. Sure, she’s had men at her feet since she was a young teenager but she’s never had the one thing she’s craved – security. Having grown up in near poverty, her waitressing job in Cabo San Lucas can barely let her take care of herself, let alone her ailing parents. Every day is another unwanted advance, every day is a struggle to survive.

When Salvador Reyes, the depraved leader of a major Mexican cartel, takes an interest in her, Luisa is presented with an opportunity she can’t afford to pass up. She’ll become Salvador’s wife and exchange her freedom and body for a life of riches – riches she can bestow upon her deserving parents. But Luisa quickly finds out that even the finest wines and jewels can’t undo the ugliness in her marriage, nor the never-ending violence that threatens her every move.

Soon, Luisa is looking for an escape, a way out of the carefully controlled life she’s leading. She finally gets her wish in the worst way possible.

As it is, being the wife of Salvador makes her an ideal target for rival cartels and there’s one particular man who needs Luisa as part of his cartel’s expansion. One particular man whose quest for power has destroyed lives, slit throats and gotten him out of an American prison. One particular man who will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants.

That man is Javier Bernal. And he wants Luisa. He wants to take her, keep her, ruin her.

Unless she ruins him first.

Some men were born to create empires, some women were meant to be queen.

                                                                 My opinion:
Luisa was a waitress at a bar, she was working for a few money so she can take care of her sick parents. One day the most famous drag lord came there and asked her questions about her life. After a few days he asked to marry her, he promised her a better life for her and her family.
She was afraid of him but it was her only way out of this miserable life. Javier was also a drug lord, he wanted to be the best so he had to make Reyes to give him what he wanted and that could happen in only one way, by taking his new wife,Luisa. She was able to escape from Reyes but after a few minutes was captured by Javier. He would keep her for only a week, if her husband cooperated he'd give her back if not he'd kill her. Javier wasn't like Reyes, yes he could kill and she knew that but except from his desire to scar his name on her didn't inflict any other pain on her. The sixth day of her capturing she felt a weird connection with him. Javier made a bargain with Reyes and he could
keep Luisa for another week even though he knew that it wouldn't be easy for him to give her back.Luisa ended up back to her husbands house, Javier wanted her back and he'd do anything for it to happen.

                                                          I was her king.
                                                          She was my queen.
And we had a fucking empire to rule.
After we were done fucking, of course.
After all, I was still Javier Bernal

It's a dark novel but not so twisted as most. There are parts that will make you feel disgusted but you'll find most parts of the story very interesting and kinda hot. It's the story of a young girl who grew up in poverty and just wants to help her parents without caring about her life. That's how she ended up in a very cruel word and after meeting her captor she grew to "love" this world. Javier was betrayed by a woman became very cruel but he was still following a moral code which made him different from all the others drug lords. I loved the scenes between those two, you could see from the beggining that they could be a perfect match.

My favourite lines:
1)As usual the man looked like he’d rolled out of the California
surf with his T-shirt, board shorts, and terrible Birkenstocks. Not the image the cartel had at
all, but there was no talking style into him. Believe me, I had tried.

2)I did understand. The life of Luisa Chavez was really and truly over.
There was only Luisa Reyes now.
And she was about to live a life of pain.

3)“Are they about how large my dick is?”
Relief washed over his face, and he managed a laugh. “Not really.”
“Too bad. It’s true, you know. About my dick.”

4)    “I want to feel your clit throb between my lips,”

5)“Don’t you trust that I can make you come
so hard, you won’t be able to stop yourself from screaming my name?”

6)“Do you want my cock inside you?” I whispered, licking the shell of her ear.
    She moaned, nodding quickly. “Yes.”
“Then ride me like a queen.”

7)The saying goes, if you love something, let it go. I always thought it was better to just shoot
the damn thing so it’d never go anywhere

8)One, that you don’t dare lay a finger on her or I will rise from my grave and fuck you up
the ass. And don’t you think I won’t enjoy it—I’ll be dead and I’ll take any hole I can get.
