Dark Instincts ( The Phoenix Pack #4) by Suzanne Wright

                                                                    Description:
It happens whenever wolf shifter Roni Axton is near Marcus Fuller: a crackle of sexual awareness that’s intoxicating…and deeply annoying. Marcus is a pack enforcer who oozes power, but Roni is lethal in her own right—nothing like the flirty females who flock around him. Even still, his possessive gaze makes one thing clear. Marcus has singled her out for seduction, and he wants to make her sit up and beg.

No matter how aloof and unfazed Roni acts, Marcus can tell she wants him. When a brutal attack by a jackal pack forces them to work together, it’s the perfect opportunity for Marcus to chip away at her defenses—until he falls into his own trap, completely unprepared for the intensity of their connection. Roni is the only one who’s ever seen past his shifter charm and discovered the man hiding beneath it. And for Marcus, claiming Roni once will mean needing her forever.

                                                                     My opinion:
Marcus was going after Roni, Nick's sister, he wanted her and when he wanted something he had to get it. Problem was that Roni wasn't like all the other women, she held back from everyone and she didn't show him any reaction to his flirting which made him more persistent. One day when they returning little Kye back to his pack they had a car accident and two strangers tried to take him with them. The two packs went crazy with the news. They decided to team up and find out what's going on. Roni wanted to help in that and with Shaya's help she ended up working with Marcus. Nick didn't like that his sister was spending time with Marcus, he didn't want him near her and made it pretty clear. What they found about those jackals made them sick, especially Roni. She was angry with her brother treating her like a weak girl and the only one who was able to bring her back and calm her was Marcus. They both marked each other, and slowly were exploring each other life's. It was very difficult to track those jackals. In the meantime Marcus and Roni found out that they were true mates, but the mating link wasn't complete. When the two wolf packs killed one of the people who was responsible for the site the jackals found a way to retaliate and sneak in the Mercury Pack's land. They caught Roni and had big plans for her. But she wasn't the scared twelve year old anymore she was smart and well trained.

Marcus: an enforcer in the Phoenix Pack. He was known as a male slut. But was hiding so much more. He hadn't a good relations with his parents. Roni: Nick's younger sister, enforcer of the Mercury Pack. She had issues with her family because they were treating her like a child and were overprotective. Both of them didn't like to depend on others or let someone to get really close to them. I liked that Marcus didn't fuck up so much, as the previous Alphas in the other books, he actually knew how to talk and treat Roni.

It's a nice book. The storyline isn't far from the previous books from this series. We get to see all the characters. There are love and fighting scenes. The enemies in this story were the most sick fuckers. My favourite part was when the girls interrogated that jackal bitch. Those women are ruthless and scary. I hope there's a book for Dom too....

My favourite lines:

1)But his old Alpha hadn’t labeled Marcus “that stubborn little shit” for nothing.'

2)Again Nick went rigid. But then he jerked, wincing. “Ow! What was that for?” he growled at Shaya.
  She sniffed. “I’m hormonal, I don’t need a reason.”

3)She narrowed her eyes. “Bite me, Fuller.”
He laughed, switching on the engine and reversing out of the parking space. “It’s tempting, sweetheart, it’s tempting.”

4)If the Alpha had some strange idea that Marcus would submit to him, he had to be smoking crack.

5)He chuckled, but that chuckle quickly faded because all this talking about food had created a problem. “I’m hungry.”
She snickered. “What else is new?”

6)“I’m not comfortable around this wolf; he sees the future.”

7)Roni frowned as Kye suddenly started spinning in a circle. “What’s he doing?”
Marcus sighed. “He farts and then looks for it.”

8)She didn’t believe one word of that matter-of-factly delivered statement, but still . . . “You’re insane.”
He smiled. “I love it when you try to flatter your way into my pants.”

9)“Are we back to this again? As you can see, your complaints are very important to us here at ‘Still Not Giving a Fuck World.’”

10)“Kathy, I think of you as more of a force of nature than a person. Janice, I don’t like you, and I’ll never like you. Eliza, you have no chance in hell of transferring to this pack, so crawl back out of my ass.”
