Description:
He was my boss, my brother’s friend, a Widower, an ex-felon, and a man I’d seen casually with a handful of women. But he was everything that gripped me, both the good and the bad. Worst case scenario if things turned awkward between us, I could go somewhere else. I’d gotten over epic heartbreak before, one more wouldn’t kill me.
After moving to Austin following six months of unemployment back home, Iris Taylor knows she should be glad to have landed a job so quickly... even if the business is owned by a member of the same motorcycle club her estranged father used to belong to. Except Dex Locke might just be the biggest jerk she’s ever met. He’s rude, impatient and doesn’t know how to tell time.
And the last thing they ever expected was each other.
But it was either the strip club or the tattoo shop.
… she should have chosen the strip club.
My opinion:
Iris moved to Austin to live with her half-brother, Sonny. He found her a job in his friend's, Dex Locke, tattoo parlor, Pins and Needles. Her first day there wasn't very productive since she was drooling over him and was afraid to ask questions to the sexy big bad biker. Dex was impatient and very rude to her and that was hurting her feelings, but she wasn't going to leave, she needed the money. While the days were passing Dex was being nicer to her which weird her out, since she didn't know why. After a month, Dex was a totally different person, very nice and funny with only a few temper tantrums. When her dad's debts caused problems to her and her brother, Dex was there to help and protect her. The fact that they currently were living and working together brought them closer, which led to revealing their feelings. Their road had a lot of bumps but they managed to wipe out their problems and live a good life as a big happy family.
I loved it, not your average biker novel. All the characters are like people next door. There's the brooding guy (Dex), who is usually angry and rude but if you get to know him he's good and loyal. Then we have the good girl/silent force (Iris), she is nice, kind and shy. She hates loud arguments and she likes to help. The rest of the characters kinda look like good people and funny. But in the end, we have the dumb one (Curt Taylor), the example of the bad parent who cares about himself and ruins everything in his life. I liked Iris a lot and her quirks, she was kind even when she insulted the others. My favourite scene was the Nothern wind I cried from laughing so hard. What i loved in this book is that it describes moments that most of us have lived and people and that we met through our life.
