Description:
When Gianna watched her sister Aria getting married to a man she barely knew, she promised herself she wouldn’t let the same thing happen to her.
Matteo – The Blade – Vitiello set his eyes on Gianna the moment he saw her on his brother Luca’s wedding, and Rocco Scuderi is more than willing to give his daughter to him, but Gianna has no intention of marrying for any other reason than love. A few months before the wedding, Gianna escapes her bodyguards and runs away. She has enough money to flee to Europe and begin a new life. But staying undetected when the mob is searching for her is a challenge that takes everything, especially as one of their best hunters and assassins is after her: Matteo Vitiello.
After six months on the run, Gianna finally settles into a tentative routine in Munich, but then Matteo and a couple of her father’s soldiers find her with another man.
Despite her pleads they kill her boyfriend, and Gianna is forced to marry Matteo. Her emotions alternating between guilt over having dragged an innocent into her world and hatred toward Matteo, Gianna is determined to make life hell for her husband. But Matteo is a master at mind games and their struggle for power soon turns into hate-fueled nights of passion.
My opinion:
Matteo liked Gianna since the first moment they met, she was a fiery girl which was entertaining for him. He enjoyed a good hunt, the more she resisted him the more he wanted her. So when he saw that she had grown to a beautiful woman he decided to marry her, of course, that made her furious since she had promised to herself not to agree with a forced marriage. After the Russians attacked them and she saw Matteo and the familia torturing those men she had enough, she was going to escape this world soon. She managed to escape but Matteo was going to hunt her and bring her back. After a few months of travelling in Europe, she decided to stay in Munich. She made friends there and found her first boyfriend. That didn't last long since Matteo found her and her father's goons killed Sid. He had to hand her back to her father even though he only wanted to protect her. Both families managed to keep the peace and continue with the wedding. Even after the wedding, Gianna didn't make efforts to try and accept her new life in addition to Matteo who was trying hard to make things between them work out. She eventually accepted her feelings for him when she thought she was going to lose him forever.
There is a good amount of Mafia blood scenes. The erotic ones are very good but there are also many fighting scenes with Matteo and Gianna that annoyed me. If she accepted it and loved him earlier I wouldn't have minded it at all but I think it went too far. I did enjoy most of their banters.
Matteo was a handsome man and very fun but when he wanted he could be terrifying. He also was very protective of his family. Gianna had always acted like a bitch to everyone but with her siblings, she was protective and kind. She may acted brave but she was a scared girl. She was a beautiful fiery girl that her mouth got her in troubles.
I'm not very impressed by this but it does have a good storyline for a mafia romance book.
