Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married--I offered to shoot her.
Ten hours before our wedding--I made a mockery of her dying wish.
Five hours before we were going to say our vows--I promised I'd never love her.
One hour before I said I do--I vowed I'd never shed a tear over her death.
But the minute we were pronounced man and wife--I knew.
I'd only use my gun to protect her.
I'd give my life for hers.
I'd cry.
And I would, most definitely, lose myself, to a dying girl---a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.
I always believed the mafia would be my end game--poisoning my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.
Or the beginning of something beautiful.
The beginning of her.
The end of us.
My opinion:
Sergio was forced to marry a former Russian double agent, Andi, who was under the protection of the Italians. Andi was sick and had only six months to live, that's why she was living life to the fullest. He couldn't handle losing another person he loved that's why he tried so much to escape this wedding. They got married and from the very first day, his life was slowly changing for the better. She loved to rile him up and to see him smile. Even though half the time they were fighting her father's goons and her sickness they managed to have some very happy and enjoyable moments together. She taught him many things and he made her every wish come true. At first, he thought that she was his punishment but he soon realised that she was his gift.
There are no words to describe how amazingly awesome is this book!!! It has everything you could look for in a mafia story: romance, laugh, violence, torture, sexual tension, love. Even though the storyline was pretty simple it was written in a way that you just couldn't stop reading it. Both main characters were great. Sergio was a very handsome tortured man, a living person who was dead inside, but this little pixie changed his whole life in just a few months. He started living again, he loved her so much that he did everything she asked him to. Andy (my favourite character) was a smartass little lady. She was so funny and a real badass. She could go from a sweet little girl to a killing machine in a nanosecond. I've never read about a female character with so much life inside her. It might not have the end I wanted but I would read it again and again...
Favourite lines:
Andi: All in all, it was a typical mob morning… a little bit of violence, some sexual tension, some laughter, and a loud wakeup call.
Sergio: “Is Jackie Chan available?”
