Review: The Lockdown Billionaire by Victoria Pinder

 ARC Review

The Lockdown Billionaire by Victoria Pinder is the second book in The Five series.

Lena Hart is a ghost. She works for the Witness Protection Program, erasing people’s pasts and placing them safely out of reach. When a cartel discovers her identity, she turns to security billionaire Rafe Santoro for help. Rafe doesn’t know her well, but he knows one thing for certain: he has to protect her.

Although Lena appreciates everything Rafe does for her, she is fiercely independent and refuses to blindly follow his orders. This leads to plenty of clashes between them, but they also work surprisingly well as a team. As danger closes in, their professional partnership turns into something deeper. The question is whether they can find common ground and make the relationship work.

This is a romantic suspense filled with action and tension. The plot is fairly straightforward, with the main mystery revolving around who is behind the leak. The chemistry between Lena and Rafe is pulsing from the start, and the attraction is immediate. Both characters are strong-willed and determined. Rafe can be quite bossy, which is one of the main reasons for their arguments, but I appreciated that he never undermines Lena. Instead, he respects her abilities and is genuinely proud of what she can do. My favorite moment was when Lena saved a man’s life.

One thing I didn’t particularly like was that Lena left Rafe too many times. The first couple of times felt justified, but after a while it started to feel repetitive.

Overall, this is a great story and an enjoyable addition to the series.
