Description:
Can a fake engagement give this wealthy veteran a second chance with his first love?
Captain Erik Anderson’s fiancée finally arrives in small-town Trinity Falls only to dump him just before their wedding. But he’s desperate for the show to go on. The last thing he wants at Christmastime is to disappoint any of the struggling veterans he’s committed his life to help—men who have become like a family to him.
Just when he thinks he’s all out of options, Erik finds himself face to face with the girl he loved and lost long ago. Before he can stop himself, he asks Jenny to help him cheer up his men by going forward with the wedding, only with Jenny stepping in as his fake bride. He knows he’s in too deep the moment she agrees.
And then she introduces him to her newly adopted son.
Erik bonds instantly with the funny, inquisitive nine-year-old. But can Lucas really keep such a big secret? Or will he blow the lid off the whole thing?
And what happens when their pretend engagement starts to feel all too real? Jenny is down-to-earth, fun-loving, and she hits it off right away with his whole crew. And the more time Erik spends with Lucas, the more he finds himself wishing the boy really was going to be his son. It’s everything he ever wanted.
If he hadn’t messed things up so badly the first time he loved Jenny, maybe they would actually have a second chance at true happiness now.
But for Captain Erik Anderson, that ship has sailed.
Will this fantasy family really break up after the holidays? Or will the pretend newlyweds fake it until they actually make it?

ARC Review
Captain's Christmas Bride by Clara Pine is the ninth book in the Trinity Falls Sweet Romance - Home for Christmas series.
Jenny Grant adopted a little boy named Gael the previous year, and this Thanksgiving would be their first one together. She wants to make it extra special by doing everything that will make him happy. When Gael finds a wedding invitation for a New Year's Eve wedding, he is determined to go. Jenny isn't thrilled with the idea because the groom is Erik Anderson, the man she fell in love with back in college. Still, she decides that a trip to Trinity Falls could be the perfect holiday getaway for her and Gael.
Erik has poured his heart into creating the Homecoming Heroes Center in Trinity Falls, and the veterans there are just as excited as he is about his upcoming wedding. What Erik never expected was to be left by his fiancée just a week before the ceremony. He also never imagined running into Jenny again. After meeting at the airport, Gael comes up with a fake fiancé story, and neither Jenny nor Erik has the heart to disappoint the veterans, so they play along. As the days pass, old feelings begin to resurface. But Jenny has to put Gael first, and Erik must decide if he's willing to fight for the love he almost lost forever.
This was such a beautiful holiday romance filled with sweet moments and plenty of heartfelt emotions. I even found myself tearing up a few times. The story is told through dual POVs and has a straightforward, easy-to-follow plot centered around Jenny and Erik's second chance at love, with plenty of help from the adorable Gael.
The book features a fake fiancé trope, a single mom heroine, veterans, a charming small-town setting, and a wonderful found family element. I especially loved how the veterans at the Homecoming Heroes Center became one big family and how the entire community came together to support one another. My favorite scenes were the family moments between Jenny, Gael, and Erik, which were incredibly heartwarming.
If you're looking for a sweet, clean holiday romance with second chances, found family, and lots of festive charm, I definitely recommend picking this one up.
