Review: Romance at Ridgeford Hall by Kate Ellington

 Description:
Jane Lakewood steals into the supposedly abandoned Ridgeford Hall and unexpectedly meets Conrad, an intriguing but secretive young man. They part ways with a promise to reunite, but Conrad fails to keep their rendezvous.
Six years later, delighted to see Ridgeford restored to its former grandeur, Jane immerses herself in parties and socializing while simultaneously grappling with a momentous decision. Unwanted advice only complicates matters.
At a grand ball, Conrad abruptly waltzes back into Jane's life and reveals the truth about those lost years. As they share old memories and new adventures, their friendship deepens, becoming something sweeter that Jane can't quite define.
But their relationship sparks rumors, and dire consequences force Jane to finally decide what she truly wants.

My opinion:

ARC Review: Romance at Ridgeford Hall by Kate Ellington

Jane Lakewood is visiting her cousin for a few days when she hears the local legend that Ridgeford Hall is haunted. Curious and adventurous by nature, Jane decides to explore the estate for herself. During her exploration, she has an accident and is rescued by Conrad, a mysterious yet kind young man. Over the following days, they develop a close friendship before Jane returns home. They promise to meet again when she comes back that summer, but Conrad never arrives.

Six years later, Jane attends a ball at Ridgeford Hall and unexpectedly reunites with Conrad. As they reconnect, the people around them begin to misunderstand their friendship, believing their relationship to be inappropriate. Attempts to keep them apart force both Jane and Conrad to confront feelings that may have been far deeper than friendship all along.

Romance at Ridgeford Hall is a charming historical romance featuring a sweet friends-to-lovers storyline. The plot unfolds at a steady pace and offers an intriguing glimpse into the expectations and social conventions of wealthy families during the period. While the story primarily focuses on the developing relationship between Jane and Conrad, it also explores the pressures Jane faces from her family and the future they are trying to shape for her.

My favorite scenes were the moments when Jane and Conrad went exploring together. Their adventures added a sense of wonder and helped build their connection naturally.

If you enjoy clean historical romance with a gentle, slow-burn romance, this book is definitely worth picking up.
