The Carrot Marmalade Murder by Meg Benjamin is the seventh book in the A Luscious Delights Mysteries series.
Roxanne should be enjoying one of the happiest times of her life as she prepares to marry Nate, but life has other plans. Between the stress of planning a wedding, struggling to perfect her carrot marmalade recipe for the shop's Marmalade of the Month, and dealing with someone from Nate's past who suddenly appears and causes trouble for everyone, she has more than enough on her plate. When that person is found dead, Nate quickly becomes one of the main suspects. Determined to prove his innocence, Roxanne once again puts her sleuthing skills to work before it's too late.
This was a cozy small-town mystery filled with a close-knit community, charming friendships, and plenty of familiar faces. The story has a slower, steady pace that takes its time introducing the characters' problems, building the victim's unpleasant personality, and showing why so many people had reasons to dislike them. The second half focuses on solving the murder while also bringing Roxanne and Nate's wedding plans to a satisfying conclusion.
I really related to Roxanne's wedding worries. Her anxiety about choosing the perfect outfit and being the center of attention felt genuine and easy to connect with. It added a nice personal touch alongside the mystery.
The investigation came together fairly quickly toward the end, but it never felt rushed. Instead, everything unfolded naturally and at a comfortable pace. I especially enjoyed seeing the community work together to uncover the truth, and the reveal was definitely my favorite part of the book.
If you enjoy cozy mysteries with small-town charm, amateur sleuths, lovable characters, and a touch of romance, then The Carrot Marmalade Murder is one to add to your reading list.
