"I’m not gentle. I’m not caring. I’m going to hurt you real bad. And you’re going to love it."
This is not a love story... You've been warned.
Kat Lawson is a struggling artist haunted by prophetic dreams of a dark stranger. When she meets Orion, she realizes the man from her nightmares is real and more dangerous than she ever imagined.
A brilliant surgeon by day and a cold-blooded monster by night, Orion doesn't want her heart. He wants her submission. He dresses her in Valentino, names stars after her and saves her dying mother only to remind Kat that her life belongs to him. He is a predator who uses medical precision to map her pain and her pleasure.
She believes she can fix him. He knows he will own her.
They are both wrong.
ARC Review
Beautiful Chrysalis by Luna Larkin is the first book in the Metamorphosis Duet.
Kat Lawson is a young, struggling artist who dreams of having people recognize her work. She's an introvert who occasionally has strange dreams. One night, while out with her friends, she meets a mysterious stranger who feels eerily familiar. Orion Hazelwood is an ancient vampire who has grown bored with life. His only interests are science... and Kat. She is innocent but hides dark desires, making her perfect for him. When they discover she is his second soul, it comes as a surprise to both of them. At first, Kat doesn't mind the connection, but once she realizes who Orion truly is, she wants out. The question is... can she escape a dangerous vampire?
This is a dark paranormal vampire romance featuring a psychopathic MMC and a sweet FMC. The story includes fated mates, touch her and die, an age gap, a non-redeemable villain, and a modern gothic atmosphere. It's told through a dual POV.
The plot is addictive, packed with plenty of spice and several triggering scenes. The dark atmosphere remains constant throughout the story, and both main characters experience personal growth. I especially liked that Orion was willing to burn the world for Kat, and that she had an important realization toward the end about who he truly was. The ending completely shocked me and left me eager to see what happens next.
If you enjoy dark vampire romances with obsessive villains and gothic vibes, I definitely recommend giving this one a try.
